Changelog

The following configurations were successfully tested and retained in the final “Best” version:

1. Protocol Upgrade (HTTP/2):

   • Action: Enabled h2, h2c, and http/1.1 protocols globally in httpd.conf.
   • Result: Reduced TTFB from 137ms to 128ms and improved Performance Score to 100.

2. Compression (Brotli):

   • Action: Created httpd/conf.d/compression.conf to enable Brotli compression for text-based assets (text/html, text/css, application/javascript, application/json, etc.) with a compression quality of 6.
   • Result: Significantly reduced LCP from ~747ms to ~662ms and further reduced TTFB to 117ms.

Failed/Reverted Optimizations

The following attempts did not improve performance or caused regression and were reverted:

1. Caching Headers:
   • Action: Added mod_expires and mod_headers configuration.
   • Result: Performance Score dropped to 88, LCP increased significantly to ~2389ms. Reverted.
2. MPM Tuning:
   • Action: Tuned mpm_event settings (StartServers, MaxSpareThreads, etc.).
   • Result: Performance Score dropped to 89, LCP increased to ~2158ms. Reverted.
