The reason my previous post had to be corrected multiple times is due to my over-reliance on AI. I’ve been using ChatGPT as a smarter alternative to Google, and it has become a habit. The app installed on my phone outperforms Alexa and Siri in understanding what I say and providing answers by far.
However, it occasionally makes unpredictable and silly mistakes. I didn’t have the time (or, truthfully, was too lazy) to install Java 23 late at night and hoped ChatGPT would save me some time. I was surprised when it claimed that virtual threads were still a preview feature in Java 23, and after asking it again, it continued to insist.
I had blurry memory of virtual threads becoming generally available by version 21, somehow at late night I trusted AI. Now I know better. In Java 18 virtual threads didn’t exist. In Java 19/20 they were in preview. In Java 21/22/23 – fully available.
