One of the most common causes of injuries in runners is improper footwear. Shoes need to fit great and be disposed of after about 300 miles.
It still amazes me how same brand, same model but different year running shoes can fit differently. I learned early that once a great fit shoe materializes you stock up three-five pairs.
Unfortunately my stack depleted prior to my third NYC marathon training, leaving me to try out same brand same model that was two years newer. It didn’t go well, or rather I’m now experienced enough to tell that I’m going to end up with an injury unless I switch.
So I did this:
I’m fortunate to live a short run from the amazing running shoe store called Fleet Feet (former Jack Rabbit) that does 3d scanning of your feet and recommends the proper shoes.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced runner I would highly recommend to do the scan.
The best part is that the link to the 3d scan is emailed and it’s always available for you to enjoy. They measured 10 parameters, fortunately none of them matters in my case except for the length and width.
The only parameter that is missing is the type of feet. They should mention that mine is a perfect Egyptian.
